Goal

Learn COIN B&A DIFF: the difference between bids and asks as one line per depth.

COIN B&A DIFF on BTC/USDT: bid–ask difference at 3% depth
COIN B&A DIFF on BTC/USDT: bid–ask difference at 3% depth
What it shows

The difference between bids and asks at each depth. Formula: bid − ask, in millions of dollars.

It's COIN B&A collapsed into one line per depth.

  • Above zero — more bids. Below zero — more asks.
  • The line color changes with the sign.
bidsasksdepth 3%$90M$40Mbid − ask = 90 − 40 = +50above zero — more bids; below zero — more asks
One depth, one difference in dollars. The sign tells which side is heavier, the size tells by how much.
What it's for

The same order book skew, but as one number. You can put a threshold on a number instead of watching two lines.

For example.

  • DIFF at 3% = +50. Within 3% there are $50M more buy orders than sell orders.
  • An alert condition “DIFF at 3% < 0” sends a message the moment the demand edge flips to a supply edge.
  • You can't set such a threshold on the two B&A lines.

Market TypeSPOT
FUTURES
SPOTWhich order book to use: Binance spot or futures.
- Want orders from people buying the coin itself — SPOT.
- Want orders from people trading with leverage — FUTURES.
On Coinbase and Hyperliquid the switch has no effect: Coinbase is spot only, Hyperliquid is futures only; the value follows the exchange automatically.
BTC PairsALL
USDT ONLY
ALLWorks only on Binance and only for BTC.
ALL — the sum of three pairs: BTCUSDT + BTCUSDC + BTCFDUSD.
USDT ONLY — the BTCUSDT pair only.

For other Binance coins, data is always for the USDT pair; the input changes nothing.
No effect on Coinbase and Hyperliquid: Bitcoin has one pair there — BTC/USD and BTC/USDC.
- Want all of Binance's Bitcoin — ALL.
- Want to compare with a source that counts only BTCUSDT — USDT ONLY.
ExchangeChart
Binance
Coinbase
Hyperliquid
ChartWhich exchange to take data from:
Chart — the same one as the chart.
Binance — spot and futures, USDT pairs.
Coinbase — spot only, USD pairs.
Hyperliquid — perpetual futures only, USDC pairs.

Coinbase and Hyperliquid are available on paid plans (the “Exchanges” screen).
They have candles, trades and order book.
Derivatives, liquidations and loans show “no data” for them.
- Want to compare one coin across exchanges — add the indicator several times and pick a different exchange in each.

By default one depth is visible — 3%. Turn on the other depths in the Style tab: tick the line you need.

In alerts

Metric COIN B&A DIFF. Condition fields:

“BTC pairs” appears only when the coin is BTC.

TOTAL

TOTAL B&A DIFF — the same summed across the whole market. Adds the Total Type field.

Try it yourself
  1. Turn on COIN B&A DIFF with the same 3% depth.
  2. Compare the sign of the line with the numbers from the previous task: bids minus asks.
What you should get. The line is above zero exactly where bids are larger. You've checked the formula on live numbers.
Takeaway

B&A DIFF = bid − ask at each depth. Above zero — more bids, below — more asks. Color follows the sign. It's COIN B&A collapsed into one line. Depths are turned on in the “Style” tab the same way.
